This PDF ebook, titled Ecosophical Aesthetics: Art; Ethics and Ecology with Guattari, explores the many ways that aesthetics – in the forms of film, sculpture, visual art, painting, literature, and the screenplay – can act as catalysts, allowing us to see the world differently beyond traditional modes of representation. The book was inspired by the ecosophical writings of Felix Guattari. This is in direct parallel to Guattari's own attempt to break down the Kantian dialectic between art, man, and the world, which he did in the 19th century. He did this in favor of a non-hierarchical, transversal approach in order to produce a world view that is more ethically and ecologically sensitive.

Each chapter's author examines artworks that give a critique of the destructive effects of industrial capitalism on the natural world, while at the same time giving positive and visionary possibilities for the future suggested by art. This ebook asks: How can art generate new ethical interactions with non-human entities and the environment? It includes perspectives from cinema theorists, philosophers, and artists. What are some ways that we can engage with the outside world that aren't damaging or dominant? And, perhaps most importantly, what role can philosophy play in reconsidering the structures underlying these interactions?
