Book Description

In addition to their function of educating the people of tomorrow, schools also address a variety of other social requirements, most notably through contributing to the advancement of health. In point of fact, the school is a one-of-a-kind environment in which to decipher the thought processes of children, adolescents, and young people. However, the school almost always attaches a significant amount of social duty without providing appropriate help to achieve it. Because of this, it is necessary to make educational resources available to the roles and responsibilities in order to enable people to deal with the problems that the company asks them to deal with and to ensure that the problems of health and education are addressed in a way that is complementary to one another. The purpose of this work, which is titled Health Promotion in School: Theory; Practice and Clinical Implications (PDF), is to establish a connection between the promotion of health and school. In the first part of the work, the authors describe the international reference standards, the various theoretical approaches that are used today, as well as the evolution of the various models of intervention, moving from biomedical to biopsychosocial to interactive-dialogical. The second part presents some methodological guidelines designed to intervene at the operational level; for the benefit of school leaders; teachers; health workers; parents; psychologists and educators. This is done after conducting a historical analysis of some of the themes in the last decade that have resulted in a particularly difficult management of the school (smoking; bullying; delinquency; intercultural).
