Book Description
The sole ebook that focuses on the geomorphological landscapes of Canada's Western region is Landscapes and Landforms of Western Canada: 1st Edition, which is available in PDF format. It embodies the diversity of Canada's landscapes, which is not as widely recognized as it should be, as well as the character of the geomorphological landscape, which should receive greater attention. The fact that 90 percent of Canada's total area emerged from ice-sheet cover relatively recently, the fact that from a geological point of view, permafrost underlies 50 percent of Canada's landmass, and the fact that the country enjoys the advantages of having three oceans as its borders, namely the Pacific, the Arctic, and the Atlantic oceans, are three of the most important geomorphological facts associated with Canada. The western region of Canada is a land of tremendous contrasts, ranging from the rugged Cordillera to the vast open spaces of the Prairies; from the humid west-coast forests to the semi-desert in the interior of British Columbia; and from the extensive Mackenzie river system of the to the steep, small, and cascading streams on Vancouver Island. The Yukon is home to some of the densest sections of permafrost in all of Canada, and significant portions of the Cordillera are also underlain by dispersed permafrost, right along with the never-glaciated plateaus that make up the Yukon. The sight of volcanic landforms, which were extruded through the ice cover of the late Pleistocene and Holocene epochs and which have also left a powerful impression on the landscape, is one of the more interesting things to see in the western region of Canada. Both the Fraser and Mackenzie deltas are huge river deltas, but they discharge into different seas. The Mackenzie delta empties into the Arctic Ocean, while the Fraser delta empties into the Pacific Ocean.
