Book Description
Creating a Greener Infrastructure for People and the Environment Through the Cultivation of the Urban Forest; (PDF) places an emphasis on urban “green infrastructure,” which refers to the interconnected network of vegetated spaces in and around cities, such as parks, street trees, and peri-urban forests, that provide critical ecosystem services in urban areas. The concept that these services, like as pollutant filtration, storm-water runoff control, and amenities for outdoor enjoyment, are just as necessary for a contemporary city as those that are given by any other sort of infrastructure is at the core of the green infrastructure approach. Knowledge of the physical characteristics of trees and urban green spaces, tools for managing the complex cultural and social dynamics, and an understanding of how these features can be combined in better governance practices are all required in order to guarantee that these ecosystem services are indeed delivered in an equitable and sustainable manner. This volume outlines the combined efforts of practitioners and researchers from all around Europe to address these difficulties by disseminating the findings and suggestions of COST Action FP1204 GreenInUrbs.
